Experiential Learning I: Jumpstart (Service)
Much of what there is to say about Jumpstart is covered in my original application and my final reflection below. But I must say that I am so happy to have been a part of this organization. Not only is the cause great, but the community is so loving and all the people involved are so kind, caring, and welcoming, all the way from the members of my own team to the supervisors of the organization. I think it was the perfect place for me as a Freshman since that sense of community is so important when you're faced with a completely foreign territory and there's hardly a familiar face to offer you comfort and security. Aside from the organization, the preschool itself was fantastic, and I loved working with each and every one of my kids. Getting to read books to kids that are all insanely cute is without a doubt the greatest job that I will ever have in my life. While I had a great time this year, I will not be returning next year since I'd like to pursue some other interests, such as research or clubs. But I definitely see myself returning in a year or two, maybe even leading a team of my own. Jumpstart is one of those places that you don't feel like you're doing work because it's so fun and meaningful, and the people you're working with are pretty much like your family. I would be foolish not to go back for more.

And of course, Jumpstart wouldn't have been nearly as fun if it weren't for these amazing people. My wonderful Team Leader Daniella along with my fellow Corps Members Maddy, Ashley, and Angie are all like family now to me. We've had some superb experiences, and I hope that we can always remain friends. These are the kind of people I'd like to know for the rest of my life.
